For maximum efficiency, spend all seven Chalices and get all the normal Stars by playing easier and cheaper Levels, such as Dread Marsh 3 or Cliff Grove. To speed up their reappearance, play more levels to get more normal Goal Stars after receiving some number of yellow Stars, you start getting purple Stars again.
