A remote controls this box and lets us enter all the codes for the songs. The downside is you don’t get to sing in front of strangers. Your group gets relegated to an individual room, and you pay by the hour. In Japan karaoke establishments are quite sophisticated. On to Karaoke, after a small stop at Taiko Drum Master to flex my skills, we make it to a place.We also got a bottle of sake for the table, it’s interesting in that you can never pour your own, so we pour it around the table and then have a friend pour our glass. The mackerel was very tasty here, although there is a predominance of freshwater eel which is alright, but not my preference. Ate at a traditional Japanese restaurant, everything was amazing, we got some sashimi platters, spicy tofu, various small dishes of fried cheese or meat, some sushi rolls.Got ready, went out to find a Karaoke bar and get dinner.Found breweries tasted great sake, found our way back to the ship.They got into a splashing battle with Heather, Meg and Keely, quite amusing. Hung out by a little aqueduct where some kids were playing in the water while their parents were barbequing on the edge.Then we went on a long march to various brewery museums to taste sake and experience the out skirts of the city of Kobe.
Food was very good and well priced, better then a lot of regular Italian food. Go figure, first thing to eat in Japan is Italian.
It will basically allow me to control all of my lights by remote control including dimming and set them up to respond to timers. One is that all of my lights as well as some other ones will be controlled by X10, which is home automation modules that can be retro fit to an existing house. We have some gadgets that make this old house shine a bit. My room is on the third floor and set up in a modern and minimal fashion. It took a few days to get the power running and there were some issues with the roof, but that has all been taken care of and I am glad to finally have a nice set up, and room to myself.
The apartment is a little rough around the edges but I like it a lot. Otherwise I have been settling in to my new apartment and starting another school year. We placed 6 th overall which is a fine effort for our first regatta with little practice, none for some. The Second day was not as successful, with the “lowlight” occurring when Rob got smacked in the head with the boom on a jibe and got knocked out for a few minutes. I hadn’t been sailing in months and my legs were destroyed from all the healing. Rob and I got out on the lake at the end of the first day and got a second place and a crazy effort. No rain and the winds picked up during the day. It was fun and the weather turned out better then expected. This past weekend I was at Cornell University competing in a sailing regatta with the RIT Sailing Team.
